magazine drafts

On my front cover I have conventionally place my masthead ‘BaZe’ at the top of the page since I planned to put it there. The masthead is the largest text you see on my cover meaning it has the most influence to the audience. The color scheme on my cover is red and white, which easily noticed my audience since I used a filter to make everything look more reddish. I used a filter since hip-hop artists usually use them in their videos as affects meaning my audience would already be used to it.
My cover page is capable of attracting both the female and male audience since I used a color scheme of my magazine is unisex, this is conventional for hip-hop magazines since they try to reach out to both genders using color scheme which appeal to them. My magazine will be informing my young adult audience about the latest gossip and interviews relating to hip hop stars.
I placed my bar-code in the left corner of my cover page, I placed it on left instead of the right because the bar-code blended in with white chinos. However, I did not place the date on my magazine nor did I put my magazine website which is unconventional for magazine not to have. I will put these in my final production. In addition, i should change the price of my magazine to make it appeal to my audience. I can achieve this by change the price from £2 to £1.99 since it look more consumer friendly and the masthead is hiding the main image, i will need to change this by putting the masthead behind the main image
In this draft I used a conventional heading by putting it at the top and making it the biggest text in the page. I used the same colour scheme as my front cove which is red and white, I also put the name of my magazine at the top of the content page since magazine producers regularly use it for their magazine.
However, I did not include images in my content page which is not good idea since the readers could lose interest and it is unconventional to not include an image, therefore I will have to add images to my content page. In addition, font that I used is not easy to read so I will have to change it to gobold thin for the text that describes the page and gobold bold for the article names because the text and the subheading need to be in different text.

In my double page spreed draft I kept a similar colour scheme to other two drafts. I chose to keep the same colour scheme since it was the professional thing to do. However, I didn’t keep my writing only on one side and used 4 columns, this unique and different to other magazines since I spoke about two interview, one was related to the heading whilst the other was as well but was a bonus for the readers I used a San serif font for all 4 columns so the audience could stay focused. For my heading I used batman forever alternate which is a serif font. I chose to use a serif heading since it would stand out from the rest of the San serif text, this will let the reader know it is the key part of the article and clearly the heading. i used broken in English in my text since my audience would be able to read it with easy because teenage tend to talk in broken language until the mature. This will mean my audience will be entertain by the language as they can relate to the way the hip-hop star speaks.

typography and font

Typography and font

This is the way the text looks and the style of text, it is used to make sure that text is appealing and also clear to see. Typography includes the size, letter spacing, spacing and type face. However, font is the style of the letters and usually influences the size and color. They are both important since they give a meaning to the text.
San serif is the convention text for, example words Arial which does add extra to the style of the letters.
Serif is an emphasis and adds a small decoration at the end. A typical example is Times Roman.

The difference between the two is that serif is used for printing since it is easier to read because the letters have decoration make sure you know what the letter is but San serif which are harder to read on paper when it is small since letter such as a and o would be easy to be confuse by if their small. Therefore, San serif is more popular to use on the internet and Microsoft.

 Pop
The text on this magazine is serif because it helps to highlight the importance of Katy Perry name. the color black is used to emphasis power because Katy is a very powerful pop star. Further the color of text stands out from the black background and fits in well with the dress the modal is wearing. This is an entertainment magazine but has sub-genres such as pop which explain why there is a pop star.

Design of magazine

I used a conventional layout for my front cover. Just like most hip-hop magazine I planed to put my masthead at the top and it the biggest font on the page. This because the reader will instantly see the brand name and understand that it is a hip-hop magazine. I put my stripline under my cover photo since they are related, I used a large font so the reader can see it and wouldn’t mistaken it for anoth sub-heading. I did this because it might attract an audience and persuadethem to buy my magazine if their favourite hip-hop start is on the cover and the strapline informs them about the main story.

In my content page I plan to use to image on of the produce and one of the photographer because it is my chance to talk about what the producer and the photgrapher have been upto this week. I cose to do this since my customer might be interested in where the crew went for this week magazine. I put images on the content page because it would help to main the audience attention because text only could be boring meaning they could lose attention. Overal my content page will be there to help my audience to navigate through the magazine, in other words so they can find there favourite parts of the magazine.

Lastly my double page which has a similar design to billboard magazine. On one of the sides of my double spread I plan to use a image which will spread to the next page. I plan to split the put he interview into 3 colums which is conventional. I want to use a large heading that states the artists name which will encourage them to read on the magazine. On left side where the majority of my image is going to be I will put a quote since it is more like to be seen my the reader on that side as it will stand out next to the main image.
