Cover page text

Batman fore (http://www.dafont.com)

This text is similar to the typical magazine titles for a hip-hop magazine. I chose it because the letters are separated enough for people to be able to read giving them satisfied since they do not have to struggle. For example, the size of the letter is large making it clear and easy to read on paper. I used this font for my title and sub-headings because they are the crucial parts of the magazine since it allows the readers to know what the magazine is going to be about.

Content page text

This text is clear and easy to read. It is also very convention to hip-hop since they use it is different to normal fonts used in magazines. This good for my magazine since it needs to try to stand out from other hip-hop magazines.

Double page text

I chose to use this text for my double page spread since it is very similar to my content page text. This is conventional for hip-hop since it is known to have thick, bubble letters. Furthermore, this font is readable meaning my audience would not struggle read weird font, making it conventional.

The genre

For my magazine I chose the genre hip hop because it is one of the most popular genre in this day and age with the music industry meaning it is going to be interested when buying my magazine. Therefore, my magazine is going to be impressive as it will be entertaining a large rang of people.

Target audience

The main target audience for my genre is going to be aim at any gender between the ages 12 to 30, it will be aimed at people who are black or have black backgrounds and the counties its aim at most is places that speak English. This is because of the target audience find it entertaining to listen to hip-hop as it makes them happy because usual the lyrics are usually about thing they enjoy, in fact it makes people in their 20s feel their still teenagers.  This is the reason people from the ages 12 to 30 listen to hip hop, which is also why people in English speaking it as they relate to the music the most.
In socio-economics the main target audience is usually middle class people, who have stable jobs or have parents who do. Due to the fact that they experience most of the good thing hip hop star experience like having a crush on someone at school. This means my audience usually see the hip hop starts as their role models meaning when they see a hip-hop star on a magazine they would almost instantly be interested to read all about it. However, the older range of the target audience might not be interested although there are fans which could be a problem since they might be budgeting.
Overall the target audience is hip-hop fans because they are usually wealth people who wouldn’t mind buying a magazine since they have dispensable money. The secondary target audience would be mature adults as they are also fans that have been listening to hip-hop ever since they were young.

Title of my magazine.

The title I have chosen to put on my magazine is “BaZe”. I chose this title due to the fact that it looks like it is saying base, which is ironic because the magazine is about music. This means that fans would look at it and smile because they would thing its funny that base it written wrong. The capital B and Z are there to grab the attention of the audience as hip hop uses large capital letters so it appeals to them a lot more

House style

For my masthead font type that I will be using being font “sweet sensations” due to the fact that it looks most like a hip-hop title as it is most commonly used, this meaning the audience could more appreciate it a bit more since it is appealing to them. The font that I will be using for my cover lines is “sugerpunch” this is because it is the most simply one when it comes to this genre. This means that reader would see it clearly as it is easy to read and it also looks like it is hand draw which is likely to be more impressive.  The font which I have used for my main body text is going to be “western bang bang” it is very clear and unique and would surprise the audience in good as this font type is clear and uses bold letters meaning the letter would stand out all by themselves.

Main cover line:

My main cover line of my magazine is going to be about a new sensation who has just started his hip-hop clearer at a very young age. It will talk about how he made it out from his neighborhood full of roadmen and unsuccessful people.
Addition cover line:

I am going to write about an interview with J Cole and how he came back into the hip hop industry after not releasing a huge hit for a while and what motivated him.

photographic commentary

Mise en scene and prop list

Cinematography:

I will use medium long shot for my cover page. I have chosen to use this because it give the audience a good view of what the fictional hip-hop artists. This is conventional to the hip-hop music genre because most hip-hop magazine show both the face and the clothes of the artists. In addition, I will use a medium long shot since it show the surrounding of the artists this conventional since it is where he shot his first music video. In my content page I will need to use a medium close up because I will need to showed the producers face and him holding his camera.

Costume, makeup and hair:

In my first image I chose to use a buffer jacket with fur around the neck as my costume and white chinos because it is conventional for hip-hop artists to wear to wear thing that stand out from what normal people wear. This is because it is traditional for hip-hop artists to do thing that are unique compare to normal people. My hip-hop artist had an African textured hair, his hair was also long which is very conventional for hip-hop artists to have long hair.

Body language and facial expression:

In my cover photo my fictional artists is looking down. This suggest that my hip-hop artists is thinking or depressed. This is good since I was trying to get my fictional hip-hop artists to look serious and these to emotions/ looks are conventional for hip-hop artists. Furthermore, the fictional character body language makes him look like he is hiding something or is nervous, this is because my fictional artist is knew in the music industry and could be symbolizing he is shy. This conventional for new artists usually get nervous from their fans.

Setting:

In my cover image I used a hill that had houses behind it, I have chosen this because it is supposed to be the home town of my fictional character. This is conventional hip-hop artists since they tend to go back to the place where they start their career because they mention it a lot in their lyrics.

Iconography:
Usually male hip-hop artists tend to show a negative affect and influence their young audience to not follow the rules. However, my first image has a less aggressive look meaning my fictional hip-hop artist has a more positive then usually hip-hop stars. This is unconventional and different to hip-hop but is like to attract a new audience since adults in their 30 tend to not associate with bad influence but see my magazine cover has the

Questionnaire

Create your own user feedback survey

Questionaire

It is important to gather primary research because it is good way to the target audience’s opinion on what and how the product should function. This means I could use primary research to help me construct my magazine, so it could satisfy my target audience. Furthermore, the feedback from gather primary research is reliable meaning I could trust my research and use it to my advantage. An advantage of a questionnaire is that it is simple to analyze meaning I can easily understand the data I collected. Another advantage is that I could get the opinion of large groups of people easily meaning I could get a response on my magazine without have to actually release it first. However, I can only get the response of people who are interested in my magazine instead of both people or are interested or not. This is bad because I would get know how to improve my magazine to appeal to a larger audience. In addition, some people might chose to ignore some of the questions this is bad for my magazine since some of my important questions might not get response to help me. In my research i asked young adult between the ages 16 to 26 do my survey because my magazine appeal to these ages since they are a majority of the hip-hop audience. This research has been beneficial to me because it allowed me to see the target audiences perspectives and preferences of my hip-hop, which will be useful to me when creating my magazine since it will allow me to decide what feature to add on to my magazine.

The first question I asked help me to see what age hip-hop fans discovered hip-hop. This is useful to
me because it allows decide that type of audience I need to attract. This question suggested I should aim to attract the age group that are entering the adult life stage or are in the early adult stage.

This question allowed me to see which gender my magazine is going to be targeted at. This will useful to my magazine since it will help me decide what colour scheme I use for my magazine. This question suggested I should aim my hip-hop magazine at males.

This question helped me decide what the price of my magazine is going to be. The results suggest that I should spend £2 since it’s what my audience is mostly to spend on a magazine.

Parent companies

Parent companies are large companies, which control other smaller businesses by owning a majority of their stocks. Time Inc. is a great example of parent company for magazines. They were found in 1922 by Henry Luce and Briton Hadden, they are based in New York City. They own and publish hundreds of magazine brands. Annually they sell over 350 million copies.

It is important for a magazine to have a parent company because it bring brand recognition to them. This allow magazine to keep their names, whilst they still grow in popularity because of their parent company. Another reason it is important for a magazine to have a parent company is that some of them give you the ability to make you magazine worldwide as long as it is a good magazine. This means parent companies allow you to international with your magazine.
I would like my magazine to be part of the Eldridge Industries because it publishes many similar magazines to mine. Examples of this magazines are Vibe who is a music and entertainment magazine, which features actors, both R&B and hip hop artists, comedian and more. Another magazine they publish is Billboard who publish reviews, news, music charts and more. They release up 17, 000 copies per week. Third magazine they publish is the Hollywood reporter they main focus is Hollywood movies, but they also talks about television, music artists, fashion, law and more. furthermore, i have chosen this parent company for my magazine because it will help me get my magazine to the right audience, this means my magazine would not be going to the wrong type of place like newspaper stands. Another reason is because Eldridge Industries is one of the best parent companies meaning my my magazine will be at an advantage if i use this company. Also if this company produces my magazine, is is more likely to become successful because parent company will give my magazine a guidance and more income. This means my magazine will be able to grow bigger and will be able to become more professional since they will help me improve.
